
Awaydays is a film based on the book of the same name by Kevin Sampson and filmed on the Wirral Peninsula. Set in the North West of England during the post-punk era, ‘Awaydays’ tells the story of Paul Carty a 19-year-old who spends all his money on gigs, clubs, records and football. At a match he meets Elvis, who is part of a legendary gang known as The Pack. With their own unique, cool style a style that’s at odds with the Boneheads they fight against The Pack have always impressed Carty. Now his new friend Elvis is offering him a way in.
Plot: On the Wirral in the grim early years of Margaret Thatcher’s premiership, the opportunities for thrill seeking young men looking to escape 9 to 5 drudgery are what they’ve always been: sex, drugs, rock n’ roll, fashion, football and fighting.
